Collaged image of tomatoes, bread, a hand, and a poem.

Tomatoes

“Tomatoes” was born from a need to talk about what we were seeing around us, without commenting directly on our state of affairs in order to universalize the experience we were describing. We put together their expertise in music and poetry respectively to create an audio track of the poem. However, we are both exceptionally interested in visual art, and wanted to include the “lyrics” in a fun, interactive way for the audience. We decided to team up and out together two sets of collages with the words “pasted” on top. We hoped that through this multidisciplinary approach we could reach people on more than just one level, and invite more interaction within and connection outside of the piece. We found collaborating to be so much fun, even though we had to do it completely over text and phone calls. Andrew did come over to Perry’s place once for a final recording session, and it was amazing to have studio time together and play with the music and the words in time. The entire experience of collaborating together was so enjoyable that we are considering teaming up to complete the rest of an album in the same style as “Tomatoes”. Follow our socials and keep checking in here for updates on the project going forward!
