Poor Connection is a collaborative project made in quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic by Emma Ongman and Nick Grier (NICHO). The project represents the experience we had as artists trying to create something amidst the chaos that has been the pandemic. It references the inability to connect, both physically and virtually, during the time the project was created as a result of physical distancing and internet failure while using the iPhone FaceTime application.

EMMA ONGMAN
Emma Ongman is a lens-based artist who questions the value of visibility within photographs during the age of post-internet art and the ubiquitous digital image.Through utilizing digital corruption, Ongman explores the creation of images with elements of chance to commemorate the origins of the digital image within analogue photographic processes.
By revealing the construction of the digital image through its deconstruction in the form of the digital glitch, her images remind viewers that the photographic process is a malleable medium, as opposed to a trustworthy tool that is used to replicate the real world.
This is her first time experimenting with video and using a sewing machine.
