me me you me you you meme
Emerging from periods of intense isolation, Emily and Braeden immediately connected over a shared love of internet culture. Both of their writing and artistic practices use absurd and self-aware humour to explore the absences and desires in their own lives. The creative process began with a Google Drive folder where both participants to dump collections and images of words they felt drawn to. After trading images and words back and forth, Emily and Braeden realized they were essentially creating memes – not for the whole world, but just for each other. Being who they are, this trading of memes quickly devolved into an entropic journey into the infinite and cyclical nature of online existence, longing, and identity. Begging the question: is all this internet connection futile fleeting nonsense or something more?
