ARTIFICE

Artifice is a collaborative, audio-visual work by musician, Aosiva and visual artist, Callum Sheedy.

The project was conceptualized initially as a song, where both artists shared inspirations, interests and musical influences to determine a sound palette. Once established, Aosiva began working on composition and production of the song, with continual feedback from Sheedy. As the song developed, Sheedy and Aosiva worked together on articulating the energy and sonic themes of the song into complementary visual concepts. Sheedy then worked on photographing and filming the concept to create a visualizer and cover art. Sheedy composited the shots digitally, using a variety of techniques to create the final visual project. Mastering was completed by James Florio.

    AOSIVA

Canada-based artist Tiffany Ratsizafy, alias “Aosiva,” offers a myriad of sounds and styles through her soothing and hypnotizing music. Born in Antananarivo, Madagascar and raised in Kenya, she draws inspiration from her diverse upbringing and tailors these influences to create unique music. She writes, composes, and produces all her work in her home studio. Inspired by the smooth and sophisticated compositions of soul/jazz artists such as Sade, along with the encapsulating vocals and percussions of contemporary African artists such as P-Square. Aosiva encapsulates the essence of the Alternative genre. Aosiva’s chill and emotive music, characterized by her mesmerizing vocals, leads the listener into both euphoria and turmoil. Her music burns slowly and seeps into the listener as heard in her debut EP titled “Project One” (September 2, 2020), in the single “LMK” (February 14, 2021), or in the original music from Guelph Arts Council “Lonely Together” exhibition. Her EP “Project One” was the beginning of her journey as a musician and currently, Aosiva is working on more projects in which she hopes to offer a more refined representation of her artistry while anticipating a certificate from Berklee.
