We first fell in love with EMMANUEL CHUKWU’s work when we saw his highly expressive and hyper realistic ink on paper drawings. These pieces are not just simple pen and ink doodles; in fact, they’re really anything but that! Chukwu’s line work is electric and the figures he depicts seem to vibrate off the page. The figures he chooses to depict are icons and legends – you can tell Emmanuel takes his time to build them up, as he applies one line or brush stroke at a time. His work is full of life due to the effortless confidence in his line work and beautiful range of controlled tonal values.

When speaking with Emmanuel, he told us a little more about himself and his work and let us know: “I’m a Nigerian born artist finishing up my BFA at the University of Guelph. I like to paint and draw, and I see my art as the best way for me to connect with people.”
